Ask yourself this though -- Would performers like the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Pink Floyd even have a snowballs chance in hell of making it big today?
-- I think not. Videos and MTV have made the "look" more important than the music. Being a musician myself I see my type treated like scum under the feet of the music industry. We are hired hands, not individuals. We are not valued for our ability to interpret, jam, etc (with notable exceptions like Phish of Dave Matthews Band people)... All that matters with most popular type music is that we can read the music and not screw up.
This in my opinion is not so great... I hate to see where it's going.
