You should definitely go through recruitment. Keep an open mind. I am an adviser at a CA school and we have MANY sophomores, juniors and even seniors taken as new members. Over the past few years, we have had probably more sophomores than freshmen in some of the new member classes. It is about being yourself and finding the place where you feel comfortable. You might be surprised at how your "favorite" house changes from night to night. I wish you nothing but the best of luck.
