Now I cannot speak for the young man about why he places Fraternity so high on his list but I can speculate. It might be he would be the fourth generation of Kappa men in his family. It might be that he has weighed the benefits of attending Howard, Tuskegee, Morehouse, and yes, Emory and all have their strengths and weakness. It might be that he understands Cornel West’s critique; “West expresses nihilism as "the profound sense of psychological depression, personal worthlessness, and social despair widespread in Black America. Nihilism exists in black communities and causes a loss of love and hope, which can be the destruction of individuals, and the young man wants to be part of the solution, and not a victim of the condition, by developing a true sense of identity that fraternal organizations provide, especially my beloved Kappa Alpha Psi. In closing, I would not be true to my bond, the testimony of 19 weeks on-line, and being a former chapter Pole, by not being somewhat lamented about folks questioning the validity of my claim. In loving response, all I can say is, “ Many are Called, Few are Chosen, (and some of you don’t have a damn clue!)

The point is that if you ARE a member, why would you ask some random folks on a message board? What happened to your lb or chapter brothers? Since you are a past chapter polemarch, isn't there someone you can contact?
This is a message board where there is no way to confirm that people are who they say they are and therefore is the last place a bonafide member should be asking about their own organization's membership policies......!

As a member of my org I know our policies on "cross pledging." That was my point to you. I attend national conventions and regional conferences, keep abreast of our Constitution and Bylaws and other org. tools. If you are a former chapter pole, the why aren't you up on such stuff? Let me ask you, where you in my city this summer? And btw, 19 weeks ain't nothing--try 8 months.
It seems that you are the one without a clue if you don't even know your own org's policies and have to come on a PUBLIC message board to get your answers.

Again, let me apologize for asking for information about the status of Pi chapter. I did not realize it was violation of the national security act I just thought that a brother might know how the chapter is going about maintain its presence at Morehouse. I have obtained the information I needed via official channels. I really was directing my conversation to brothers…who understand most of the information about Greek organizations is not a secret, as most of you would like to believe. Moreover, this policy really concerns Morehouse and the policy makers at the fraternity. As for asking my original question on a message board, in most instances, Greek chapter status and there removal and return to any campus is public knowledge. Besides constitutions are amended, as to stay applicable to the growth of any organization, if that were not the case the United Statues constitution would still consider most of us as 3/5 human. What is atypical to me is how non-Kappas feel that they have some Greek given right to respond to questions that really do not concern them, especially when they do not know the correct answer to the requested question. I would think a simple, “I do not know “would have sufficed. Furthermore, when did it become acceptable to define someone else’s commitment and participation to their organization by the national and regional meeting they attend? My work is with the youth of Atlanta, which took precedence to attending dinners, concerts, and political end fighting. I have attended my share of Grand National Meeting .With that said, I feel I represent the goals and mission of my Beloved Fraternity in lives of those who need positive African-American male models. In addition, my past work with St Jude’s is inline with the current direction of Phi Nu Pi. I really do not need or appreciated the “If you are a Kappa reference”. Have we as a people gotten to the point in our culture that we assume the lie before conceding the validity of the truth? We have enough that from the media and government, let us not do it to each other. I have long past that point where I need a Delta or any other sorority (or fraternity member for that matter) to validate and affirm my life as a Kappa Man.
Yours in the Bond

Here is some real news that we can use.
Several black colleges are looking for future black male teachers and will send them to college or university free for 4 years. The Call Me MISTER program is an effort to address the critical shortage of African American male teachers particularly among South Carolina's lowest performing public schools. Program participants are selected from among under-served, socio-economically disadvantaged, and educationally at-risk communities. The program is a collaboration between Clemson University and four historically black colleges in South Carolina: Benedict College, Claflin University, Morris College and South Carolina State University. The project provides: Tuition for admitted students pursuing approved programs of study at participating colleges; An academic support system to help assure their success; A cohort system for social and cultural support. Visit http://www.callmemister.clemson.edu/index.htmfor more details and the online application or call (800) 640-2657.

My last post has nothing to do with the Pi chapter other than providing some general information that provides much needed resources for funding the college education for African-American men. I am sorry if it has no use on this thread. For example after serving as an Officer in the United States Army, then a Marketing Manger for a Fortune 50 company, I decided to answer God's call and attend seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Seminary. My goal is to develop ministries that foster a sense of personal responsibility, Christian service, and civic pride for Young African American men. I suppose in that light, since the Pi chapter (Morehouse) has historically provided our country men with those same goals, I thought it might inspire someone to pass along that information.
