The only one of those commercials that bothers me is the Stayfree commercial where the woman is "interviewing" women in the maxipads aisle and she pours water on a pad and rubs her hand across it to show how quickly it absorbed the water...and THEN she blots the pad on her shirt (like, quickly, once on each shoulder)! That's really a gross mental image for me.

Here's what I never understood about men freaking out about buying "supplies" - obviously it isn't for YOU - obviously you have a WOMAN - so how is it embarassing? Far more embarassing for a woman to have to go to the only open check-out line, staffed by an 18 year old boy, and buy tampons or pads. Yikes.

I just don't get why it's embarrasing at all. It's a piece of cotton with a string on it, useful for practical and sanitary purposes. It's not like it's a dildo.

There are lots of very natural things that I don't want to share with the 18 year old at the check-out.

That reminds me of the time I was at the grocery store and my son (who had recently been potty trained) was helping me unload the cart. As he put something on the belt, he would announce what it was so I heard "strawberries", "hotdogs", etc. - and then he put the pack of Always on the belt and announced "MOMMY DIAPERS!".
Sorry for the tangent.

I will avoid the lines with boy students that I know as baggers or checkers under these conditions, more to spare him the possibility of embarrassment than because it bothers me.

Nah, embarrassing is condoms, pregnancy test or yeast infection stuff. Or that pill you take for pain with a UTI along with gallons of cranberry juice.
For my period? I have no qualms whatsoever. We all bleed get over it.

Lol. I will purposefully wait in a line with a woman cashier so I don't have to go through that look of mutual embarrassment.

lol, i know EXACTLY what you mean, I do the same thing.
I find it more embarrassing to buy like y.i. stuff or a pregnancy test for some reason. Definately the pregnancy test because I feel like everyone is judging me... I know i'm most likely paranoid but when I'm on line and there are older people on line with me, I feel like they are thinking that I'm too young, probably unmarried blah blah blah. I'm not one to be especially conscious of what other people think, or really care either, but for some reason, this really gets to me.
