I'm with you who would break a PMN's heart, especially when she still has parties to go to afterwards. If you wanted to explain the situation to your friend you could do it after recruitment.

I'm guessing not only is her mom and Aspen, but either she is or was a higher-up Aspen (National Pres, VP or the like) OR there's a bunch of people in her family that were also Aspens (besides her sister).

I'm with you AlphaFrog. Am I the only one who thinks she might shock her whole family and end up at Taos?

Makes sense. Amazing how being a legacy can help and hurt your during recruitment.

I am just happy the story is continuing! And yes, it was me who wrote my entire retro thread and then C&P a little bit at a time not recruitment.

thank you, thank you... i have said that over and over.

no... i am not a "writer." no... i am not an "editor." i am just a normal working woman trying her best to tell her recruitment story, along with that of her sister... and that of her two best friends. i have never, ever thought i was a particularly creative person, i am just too analyical.

i am just writing about our journeys as i go and have been trying to make it as interesting as i am capable of doing. it literally takes forever. granted i write a great deal at work, but it is totally different, totally. i have labored over this thing forever, i never dreamed it would take this much time and so many awful turns. and this format for posting gc uses... i was definitely not prepared for how difficult it can and does get for me, i have a wonderful secretary that "covers" my errors at work and i truly realize how fortunate i am to have her in my professional life. i have always thought i was smart... wrong, i should have done it like maximus406, but isn't hindsight always so much better?

i am just writing as i go... that is why i have made every single grammatical error known to mankind... misspellings, run-on sentences... and dangling participles. i am totally embarassed... and i apologize for not proofing these posts more thoroughly... but i have such a limited about of time. i am truly sorry.

thank you maximus406!

cheers!

Quit being a b*tch. Some of us actually want to read it, instead of attempting to piss her off where she doesnt want to, thanks.

Totally going out a limb here, but maybe someone in her family was an Aspen founder. Ditto for Callie & Vail (since she's SO certain). Although that would be an insane coincidence...ancestors of the founders of two orgs at the same school in the same year?!?! Oh well, it's fun considering the possibilities...

I don't think it's so much going out on a limb- when I heard Callie was "so sure" she would get into a certain chapter, I too was thinking that she was an ancestor of a founder for that chapter.

see, i thought it was just an overzealous PNM who would have her certainty crushed... but who knows, it seems like she committed a slew of rush faux-pas knowing that she had it in the bag anyway...

I agree with you on the overzealousness; I'm surprised by the extremes some people have gone to with their guessing!

Yeah, I guess in my experience (reading retro threads and my own recruitment) PNMs who have said stuff like "I'm definitely going XYZ" or "I know I'm going to get a bid to ABC" usually are just on their best behavior at the chapter during recruitment, making sure they are not crossing their legs (only their ankles), smiling a whole lot, and carrying good conversation. Then, as you said, many times they heart-breakingly get cut.

In this story, Callie runs into the house and says things to the actives like, "I can't wait to be your sister" or "I can't wait to live here!" as opposed to just saying these things to the PNMs. I guess that's the only difference I see. But it could still be sheer overzealous-ness.
