Once this product gets to be really well known and it's mentioned on the news or on commercials, rapists will think twice. Especially if news or commercials mention that something like "65% of women wear this product and the number is increasing". If I were a rapist and I heard those stats, that would scare the crap out of me.

I think you'd be a lousy rapist. Rapist don't just stop because it's harder, it becomes more of a challenge. So now rather than being unsafe on the train, you're unsafe as a woman living alone. This isn't the first hurdle rapist have faced, they’ll figure ways around it. They’ll begin using something besides their penis to find out if you’re wearing one. Edit, also, why would 65% of people wear them? Most women don't feel in danger of being raped on a daily basis, and it would take that level of fear for me to consider shoving teeth up the va-jay-jay. And if I'm in that bad of a situation, I'm going to move.

Yeah, It's not about sex, it's about power and humiliation. So anything that hurts the woman makes the man feel better. Anything the woman does to provoke him only makes it worse.

I always learned, never get in a car with a person who's threatening you. If he's going to kill you, make him do it right there on the street, but don't let him take you to somewhere where he'll have more time and be able to hurt kill you without anyone knowing where to find you. Yell, scream, fight back. He's more likely to let you go than to shoot or stab you in public. Just don't go quietly.

And, for your news, a brave 11 year old fought off her 19 year old attacker. He was trying to take her up the staircase, possibly to the roof of her apartment building. She's 4'5'' he's 6'2'' and saved herself by crying and screaming.

We have decades of empirical evidence that show, conclusively, that increasing the punishment does not act as a deterrent for major crimes, such as murder and rape. "Scaring the crap" out of a potential rapist is not really an issue, at all, no matter the statistic.

The only thing that acts as a deterrent toward abusing the system is to protect the rights of the accused - and keeping a high standard (burden) for conviction is to ensure the rights of the innocent, not the rights of the guilty. It's really that simple.
