Psh. The only way I drink tea is ice cold in a glass...there's no need to hold out that pinky.
As for skirts...why not just close the legs instead of crossing them? Or, if you're like me...avoid them anyway since you'll constantly forget anyway.

You don't drink tea out of a glass so small it can only fit a bee or something of similar size, with your pinky stuck out for no apparent reason? Man, you're missing out...

I guess it will just have to be unhealthy, because I have a habit of crossing my legs.

I can't stop crossing my ankles if I tried! I often find that without even thinking about it, I'll have my ankles crossed, sitting straight up with my hands folded in my lap. I catch myself doing it and think, "Yikes, Kappa Delta really drilled that one into me!"
Of course, I learned a lot more useful things from KD too.

It's not either/or - it is possible to write thank you notes and still care about greater societal issues. In fact, if you write thank you notes to those who donate to your cause, you are more likely to receive additional donations.

Actually personally I included thank yous in the list of things that make sense. Pink raising at tea time and crossing legs in the correct direction were on my list of what doesn't.

Crossing your legs doesn't actually cause varicose veins. Varicose veins are usually familial and may be exacerbated by that activity but are not caused by it. Stress on hip and knee joints can be caused by crossing your legs, but for many people, including myself, after so many years of doing it, not crossing their legs is uncomfortable. As for what's proper, any position that would keep people from seeing things that aren't appropriate for mixed company, including having both feet planted firmly on the ground with ankles touching, is just fine in my book.

Absolutely! As an alumna, I've made several donations to my chapter (and our Foundation). It's always interesting to see if you get a thank you, and how it's worded. For example: "Thank you for your donation. We appreciated it," doesn't have the panache of "We loved the flowers you sent! So many people commented on them, and we greatly appreciated receiving them!"

I'm so bad at that, though. My thank-you notes always end up reading "Thank you for XYZ, it is very appreciated".
