Transsexual is a person desiring to change their gender assignment. Intersex means that there is genetic or physical evidence of more than one gender.

Now that you say that, I remember a L&O:SVU episode about that. How the parents chose to make their baby a girl and get rid of the extra, um, appendage - and apparently they chose wrong...

I saw that- and I believe it was because something went wrong with the equipment (no pun intended) during the circumcision, and they decided to do gender reassignment and raise the child as a girl. Apparently it was a good idea in theory but the results were disasterous.
It also gets my vote for most depressing episode ever.

That could have something to do with the therapist making her act out sex with her twin brother...

Was this episode on TV yesterday?
I think I overheard something about this while my hubby was watching it

I find this strange, because half of the lesbians I know were actually "straight" during their high school and college years, not the other way around. Are these the same girls who do it because it is trendy? Or were they geniunely lesbian or bi and went straight because they thought they'll catch more drama in the "real world" for their orientation?

I had a friend who was a BUG in college
Also - I was a "Fruit Fly" in college.
And I did a report on GID for one of my Psychology classes

It's a true story. And it gets more depressing.

That used to be the standard for a botched circumcision or for any sort of uncertainty about the babies physical sex. At the time, doctors thought it was all about how we were raised. Yeah, that didn't work out so well.

I love SVU though - its one of my favorite shows. That was an interesting episode - depressing and dark, but then again many SVU episodes are.

i can see what you're saying here but i also don't believe that ALL hedonists would be trendy. maybe there's just a separate category for trendy...
other than that can i go with 1.5?

I'm a 1.5
There are a few topics for Drolefille's class. I agree that violence in lesbian relationships is very undereported.
I'm curious to know the correlation between lesbian nuns and violence within their convents, communities, and schools. Wonder if they've done studies. I've heard awful stories, but nothing documented.
(FYI, I'm Catholic, I'm marrying a Catholic in a Catholic ceremony. I am not bashing the church. I just think it's an underreported subtopic.)
Let us know how the class goes, Drolefille.
