Oh come on, that is complete BS. If you ask every freshmen rushee what they are looking for in a house, it is going to be something along the lines of great reputation with top sororities, great parties, wealthy chapter, etc. That is a fact. I have been through, what 4 rushes, and I have yet to see a kid come through looking for "strong brotherhood, great philanthropy oppurtunities, etc." It just doesn't happen...and I have never expected to hear it from the young guys. They are 18 year old college freshmen for Christ's sake. Brotherhood is something you learn over time.

That is completely moronic to call them a bunch of "toolbags" for wanting to party and be around hot women. I'm sorry, but anyone who tells me that most guys don't think about that kind of stuff when they rush.....is a f**king liar. It happens, let's just leave it at that. I would go through a whole spiel about it....but judging from your posts I think you would just try to argue about it anyways. I'll spare myself.

Obviously though, you are a girl and have no idea how fraternities function.........so I wouldn't really expect you to know how bad chapters go about making themselves look good during rush. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you.

Hey, I'm a girl and I do know how fraternities work (to some extent) and I definitely know how sororities work even though it's forbidden to be honest about it here on Greekchat. For the sororities, that's probably a good thing.

I don't have a problem with statedawg's question. Although it won't tell you their reputations, you can get a fairly good idea about the fraternities here:

All but one of them has a chapter website. I just looked at them, saw the size of their member rosters, looked at photos, etc. I put myself in the place of guy going through rush and I was able to narrow the field considerably. Yes, this is just the superficial stuff, but you've got to start somewhere. Put that together with the info you get from macallan25 and you're pretty much go to go.

Best of luck to you~
