Sorority sisters mourn UNCC student
More than 100 UNC Charlotte students gathered Thursday night to remember a student who fell to her death Sunday from a 10th-floor dormitory window.
The 20-year-old sophomore, who was raised by her grandparents in New Bern, was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Her sorority sisters dressed in black and walked somberly across campus, holding candles as the sun set before the event. They placed luminarias around the Belk Tower.
Students took turns telling tearful stories about the student, then waited in line to sign a guest book near her photo. Police are still investigating, but said they believe the fall to be a suicide.
