yeah, i'd be disappointed in the lack of judgement on the video tape, but I would stand by him 100% and think he was in the right.

The point that these people in this thread are making is that this happens quite often, and also to white males who have sex with white females, so it isn't a race issue.

Their point is valid however, like was already stated, race compounds many issues and this tends to be one of them. That's evidenced by the comments I've read on other boards and in-person regarding this topic. Race may not (read: may not) have been a factor in the fact that he was arrested and so forth, seeing as though things like this happen all the time, but it would be interesting to see if it may (read: may) have been an extralegal and undocumented factor in the sentencing. That can't really be proven but I'd be interested to see the sentencing criteria either way.

In some cases that age difference could be a junior dating a sophomore. That was pretty common if I remember correctly.

I wonder how many people we all know that could have been found to be sex offenders if they were prosecuted to the letter of the law . . in some states anyway. How many of our parents?

Remember that statutory is definined differently from state to state.

Keep in mind that if he had intercourse with her it would have been a misdemeanor, it was the fact that she blew him (oral sex for you prudish people) that made him it a felony and gave him ten years.
