But you are completely ignoring the fact that many sororities do welcome AI's and don't mind if they are contacted first by a PNM.
As another poster said earlier in this thread, the fact of whether or not they do AI is not ritual, HOW they select who they AI and who they don't, IS ritual.
If this information was ritual, then why was it listed in the sticky at the top of the AI forum?
You don't have to read two posts in this entire forum before someone makes reference to how long AI takes and how difficult it is. How in the world that you can say this gives the impression, I would love for you to find where someone posted that it was.
But wait, that might require accurate research. Nevermind.

Read some of the older AI threads. The AI process took LouisaMay over 3 years.

I went back about a year, and I never, ever thought it was a quick process. I figured that out probably within an hour of reading through.
When I started this process, I didn't have a personal timeline because it is a different process. I'm going to let nature take it's course, I have been invited to upcoming chapter activities, and a day will come when they are ready to have me or tell me I'm not a match.
That's ok. I have to get a chance to know them too, and who knows? I may decide, that we are not a match. But having a GOOD match, is very important to me.

If that is the case with some sororities, then let it be...you don't have to advertise it all over GC that these sororities might welcome AIs. I don't think that headquarters (or whoever) is asking people on GC "please advertise that we do AIs so that we can get swarms of people asking about it"
If people want to go through AI...let them, but they have to do it in the appropriate way. I don't think seeing all these stories about how women "shopped around" is helping any.

On the same token, I don't think any AI member said anything about "Oh yeah, contact XYZ because the process was a breeze for me"
I would challenge you to find a post that makes that reference for a women that had no previous ties.
The only people on the GC boards that are making those statements, oddly enough, are NOT AI's.

Oh, I've had some PMs from PNAMs asking if it was true that certain sororities were easier to AI into because they had more AI members here on GC.

And that is an inappropriate question, I agree with you 100%, and they just need to be told that information isn't given on GC.
I'll back you up any day of the week on that one.

I think the D9 issue isn't that AI and intake are similar, but that the D9 forums have a very efficient way of dealing with membership inquiries and that is what should be used in the AI forum.
