Millions die every day. If I had to rank this dude's death on a list of important deaths, I'd place it at the bottom. And it wasn't listed on any news outlet I saw today (and if it was it was a joke) because nobody cares about her F list celeb status or her son.

Reuters has it all the way at the bottom of its news stories. Below the "Oddly enough" section which always features bizarre stories about someone winning an air guitar championship. NY Times not at all. Fox News has a tiny link to it next to a link for the Gaming Granny - a grandmother that wins a lot of video game awards evidently. MSN has it right below an article entitled "Should Britney ditch K-Fed" and "Wal-mart models on the catwalk". ABC has it next to an article entitled "Bathhouses - The New Old Sex Clubs" and a poll asking people about the meanest things they've ever done.

Hell, it's even on the foxnews.com homepage.

Fox News, CNN, ABC, MSN, Reuters, etc. all have it mentioned on their homepages.

I think it's also novel news because she just gave birth, then loses her other child so soon after.

This is very sad. Lord knows Anna Nicole is hardly stable so I'm sure the repercussions could be even worse than when a normal person loses a child.

Are we certain this is totally real? I thought the kid was at most 17...I was shocked to read he was 20. It's very bizarre circumstances too.

When I first heard that his mother had hired someone to do anothe autopsy I thought, "Ok, this is damage control in advance", and was certain that drugs played a part.

I was very suprised that the coronor in the Bahamas could not establish an exact cause of death.

Very sad. I just hope Anna's daughter will be ok b/c her birth will forever be associated with her son's death...that will be a hard shadow to live in.

I was reading in People yesterday that Daniel has had no prior history of drugs but does have a history of heart problems. He also had several hosptializations, including some trips to ICU. Unfortunally, the doctors never found what his problem was. Maybe Anna wants to make sure that it was his heart and not something else.

Uncle Cyril!!!

I agree, the tragedy is not especially because this is Anna Nicole Smith's son, or any other pseudo-celebrity, it's the circumstance of a grown son coming to see his newborn sister and mother, and dying. If it hadn't been ANS, it would have appeared in the News of the Odd or whatever.

At the salon the other day, the women were talking this theory:

Daniel committed suicide because he is the father of the baby. That's why Anna Nicole is refusing to have the baby's paternity tested.

Very disturbing...!

(I'm surprised this wasn't posted here on GC already...?!)

That's my mom's theory. Actually, my mom's theory is that Daniel was murdured b/c he's the baby's daddy.

The circumstances are what makes this heartbreaking. Not just that a "celebrity's" son has died.

Agreed. This may have been newsworthy even if it wasn't a pseudo-celebrity.

Mother gives birth to baby daughter. Her 20 year old, healthy son dies of what appears to be natural causes while sleeping in a chair in her hospital room.
How freaky is that?

Clearly the answer is for no newsworthy events to occur on 9/11 ever again.

no one cares that Stephen Biko died today! WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT OTHER THINGS! It was in South Africa! HELLO! Apartheid?

How could we talk about anything else.
