My problem isn't with the attracted v. not attracted part (although, come on, there is a wide range in every race), it's with the "Oh, well, it's okay for this attitude to take place in my fraternity since it doesn't directly affect me" attitude.

And if someone white would have made that comment, you'd be the first one to scream "ignorant".

Okay lets put it like this...
it's not about the race, but it's the contributing factor. If there was a black girl that everyone found attractive, it would be different. I think beyonce's cute, it's about race if only because their race determines their appearance. It's sort of like being the guy who hooked up with the fat girl. Y'know? It's the same type of ostracism based on appearance and not race.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. That is about the most ignorant comment I have ever read in my life. You are going to be attractive to a black girl because of her status and not because she's beautiful. I don't care what anybody says, I am standing up for my sisters. We are all beautiful black women. You would know that if your ignorance was not in the way. And as far as interracial dating goes, that has been going on since the beginning of time. That's why I am Black, white and hispanic. I haven't seen any white Deltas. I have dated outside of my race, but I don't know any soros that have

1. He has every right to not find (all or even some) Black women attractive and to be attracted to status. Opinion and personal preference. Afterall, there are ugly people of every race who find mates based on their status. So there's no real need to fight the battle for Black women here. Some Black women are beautiful and some aren't. That's that.
2. Interracial "dating" has not been going on since the "beginning of time." Unless "dating" is synonymous with "sex" or even "rape."
3. I've seen white Deltas and I know a few Sorors who date interracially.

Amen to that.
All the guys I've dated have been outside my race. I've only dated one Asian (but the only thing Asian about him was his last name and the fact that he was only 1/8th of it) and don't find most of them attractive.

particularly in the asian community, that has nothing to do with personal attraction.

Another thing as well...growing up and living in Hawai`i where everyone's of mixed ancestry, interracial relationships are the norm and have been this way since the missionaries (followed by the plantation workers) came.

I find that a lot of white guys have a thing for Asian girls. My high school was 66% Asian, and one of the guys in my youth group wanted to come to my graduation just to see all of the Asian girls. I kid you not. When it comes to race, my last 3 serious relationships were all white and Jewish. I don't care about color as much as I care about religion. I also would prefer not to date Russian guys. My last boyfriend was Russian, and it just confirmed for me how much I want to ostracize myself from the Russian community.

True, but not only was the comment racist, he/she could have kept it to themselves.

How in the hell was his comment racist? Some of you morons throw around that term so loosely its ridiculous. You act as if its the same as calling someone an idiot.
Why is it SOOOOO wrong of him to say that he would be ostracized if he dated a black girl? Many social circles look down upon interracial dating....just as i'm sure some Greeks would too.....I know it is that way in many parts of the South. Looking down upon interracial dating doesn't make you a racist. Many people are brought up with the notion that it isn't proper.......and there is nothing wrong with that.
rac-ism /-rey-siz-uhm/ :
1.) hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
2.) a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
