Taking the relationship aspect out of it for a second - it is really annoying as hell if you hit a guy and they won't fight back because you're supposedly some helpless little girl. Because then what are you supposed to do? You're pissed at them, otherwise you wouldn't have hit them, and they won't fight back, so you're stuck. Ugh.
Putting the relationship aspect back into it for a second - you should never hit/inflict violence on anyone you're in a relationship in, outside of certain contexts. I think each couple has to talk out what their boundaries are, what they're comfortable with, and then make sure that they check each other on it consistently. Otherwise stuff can slide from playing around, etc., into something more serious. (IE - I will jokingly hit my fiance. But if I actually hurt him at all, he tells me, so I know what the limit is.)
