We're a newly reorganized alum assoc (not sure how much longer I can say that - has been 3 years....) and we've finally found our geographic. (It was "nj" and we've narrowed it down to a few counties, representing a few hundred alums.) There are 2 RMH and one is a bit closer than the other, but neither are in the defined geographic area, but that does not seem to matter! We get good attendance for Cooking @ RMH nights - one woman drove 90 minutes just to cook & it was her first alum event ever! (In NJ, that is a significant drive!)

We've also found area restuarants (chains, like Pizzeria Uno's and Chevy's Fresh Mex) offer "friends & family" fundraisers. Although we didn't go crazy with the advertising (like: none), we had a few great alum sister dinners at these places, enjoying the food and sisterhood and raising $$ at the same tiem! We used the $$ raised to cook at RMH during the year.

Right now, we are organizing a garage sale for the Fall with 100% of the proceeds going to RMH! Many associations do this and I've only heard great results.

We're also going to participate in the RMH Walk for Ronald (perhaps an ADPi alumna will be on the planning committee too!) and other walks (like breast cancer) as the RMH one is kinda far.

Your Alumnae Communications Director for your District should have a binder of examples of philanthropic activites, newletters, Pearl Conf Call minutes, etc. Ask her for ideas!

Well had our meeting last night.

We are definately planning the grocery store fundraiser and helping with McNight on the Town.

We also decided to get the ball rolling to try a golf tournament. One of the sisters was kind of concerned because of so many tournaments in the area, but she told us that if sisters wanted to do it, then she would do it. So we are all trying to get this one working. We shall see how it works out. I'm going to take the initiative and contact some places today.

I'm really excited that we are going to try it because RMH is such a great cause.

What's funny is that I kind of feel like I'm one of those project managers from the apprentice. LOL.

I think I've been watching too much tv

I'm going to bring our off-line chat to the boards, Bri.

Wrap gifts at a local mall or Barnes & Nobles! Many malls will offer free gift wrapping (for tips!) and allow community orgs to sign up to do the wrapping (and get the tips!). Ususally, they will provide the tables, paper, tape, scissors - you provide the sweat-equity! I think B&N will do this, too, at Xmas, Mother's and Father's day, etc.

That would be a good collegiate-alumnae event!! (I think I'm emailing the philanthropy chair today to set this up as a collumnae event!)
