It's more of a "gradual disaffiliation". Recruitment isn't until September, but starting last week, the SRC's (Recruitment Counselors) are supposed to refrain from wearing stitched letters, and by the end of the semester, there should be no mention of their GLO on their facebook/Myspace pages, but they are still allowed to attend chapter functions and associate with members.
Actual disaffiliation doesn't occur until a few weeks before recruitment in the fall, and that is when the full NPC Green Book Recruitment Counselor regulations go into effect.

They do something like this for the Rho Gamma's where I went to school. Starting spring quarter they can't wear letters but can attend events.
ALL sorority members have to remove letters from their cars and facebook/mypage members. I think it's ridiculous.
