I am an Alpha. When I was an aspirant, I had never heard the Alpha Hymn before. My first event that I attended for my home chapter was a founders day luncheon. Well, because the room was small, when the bros sang the hymn at the end, they ended up making a circle around the seated guests (mostly wives, relatives, and me).
I was very emotional when I heard it. And I was probably just as emotional the first time I sang it with my chapter.
And because I am a wus, I usually get emotional when I hear other people's songs too.
