These groups would not be part of this list becase they are professional fraternities/sororities, and so like service fraternities/sororities are co-ed.

From my understanding, groups like Sigma Alpha Iota Sorority and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity had to drop the references to "professional" to receive exemption from Title IX. There are other threads where Phi Mu Alpha brothers explain this whole Title IX thing, but basically after Title IX there is not such thing as a "professional and social" fraternity/sorority. A group is either a social and exempt from Title IX, or a professional and co-ed.

Alpha Omega Epsilon is not co-ed. We fall under Title IX because we are a social sorority, as well as professional. There was a discussion about this at our International Convention and I believe our IEB consulted with our lawyers about this.

Sorry for the bump of the old thread, but I wanted to correct this.

Alpha Chi Sigma

Don't forget Alpha Chi Sigma (known as AXE). It is a national co-ed professional chemistry fraternity. My boyfriend is a member at Syracuse University!

They have this really funny shirt that says: (front) Chemists do it on a table...(back) Periodically (with a periodical table on the back).

The site says there have been 90 chapters chartered with 50 active. It was founded in 1902 at the University of Wisconsin! Although they are a professional fraternity, they also operate as a social organization. At Penn State, they have a house!

They were started at UW! They have a big plaque in the entrance to the chemistry honoring them, which I think is cool. I like seeing a university honor a GLO.

They have a house here, too, where they offer free chemistry tutoring. (I took them up on this a lot prior to my MCAT.)

Wow! That is really cool! Hey, would you mind telling me about the MCAT? My boyfriend, the AXE member, is planning on taking the MCAT. He wants to do a graduate program in Science before going to medical school.

I also like to see when schools honor GLOs. I think there is something at the school where Phi Mu was founded honoring both Phi Mu and Alpha Delta Pi. Anyone care to verify that?

I've seen photos of a fountain at Georgia Wesleyan, which I think honors both of the Macon Magnolias. I can't seem to find a picture of it, though. Mabe somebody else will have better luck? Both Phi Mu and Alpha Delta Pi have rooms decorated in the 1800's style, too.

They're both in the Cannonball House:
