when my yet unborn children reaches 18 years old, i will not be "letting" him/her do anything....it's a little hard to forge a path to adulthood with parents controling your every move. i would be remiss as a parent who is greek to not let my child know a little about greek life. i'd let her/him know that these organizations are NOT sanctioned by the NPHC orgs (except for Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., they allow sweethearts) and also that, depending on the campus, s/he may hurt her/his chances for becoming greek later on. i, as others, would engourage her/him to look into the organizations in preparation for her/his decision of whether or not to plegde and what. the final decision is not mine to make, that's up to my child, but as someone said, i am not going to provide the funding to pledge for one letter that's being borrowed from someone else.
