To be deemed a legend a person should have had such a profound impact on their field that even after their death, their name is one of the few names that automatically come to mind when the subject of their field is brought up. Not only is longevity of their career a factor, but usually the person altered the field in some way -maybe by creating a new technique, or simply mastering an existing technique. Also, the legends are usually the ones whose style (or technique) is copied, emulated the most You know, like the first and finest of 1908
