My mom is a Liscenced Clinical Professional Counsler and she LOVES Dr. Phil. Although, it's not really for the entertainment value of the show so much as all the stuff/help he gives away to the people on it. He's helped lots of people. I think it's great because the talk-show people get their entertainment and meanwhile, people actually get helped, unlike most talk shows where they bring them on and let them scream at eachother/beat on eachother for an hour on national TV, maybe let them talk to a shrink for 5 min., then send them home...what does that help (besides their ratings)?
