Studiers of the domestic arts, and chemists, I need your help!!!

Ok experts, I am begging for a lil advice:

So yesterday I'm cooking some yummy Hungarian food. And I'm almost finished, take the boiling water off the stove, and wait! I need butter. So I run to the fridge, open the butter, throw the lid down, throw the butter in, and yay it tastes better than my mom's.

I did not realize that I tossed the plastic lid onto one of the burners.

It melted so badly that, although I threw the lid away, the plastic solidified onto the burner and began to burn. I somehow got the burner off the stove, took it outside, and tried to scrub it with soap and water. No luck. My roommate threw baking soda on it (lots of BS) and we left it outside overnight.

Now it's so hard you would have swore it came that way.

Any advice? Suggestions? (Besides "don't cook" and "you're an idiot") I can't imagine I'd be able to go buy one replacement burner
