I knew y'all would get to this eventually when I saw the Bid Day article posted but I didn't want to be the one to start this. Interestingly, when a rape occurred at a fraternity house (not by a member, though), the newspaper would not publish the name of the fraternity or more than vague details, yet when a sorority girl gets in trouble...It's kind of that "boys will be boys" mentality.
There IS a "drunk bus" on campus-it's called SafeTrips, but it runs at night, so people don't have to walk around alone, and anyway, under normal circumstances people aren't driving drunk during the day. I had to ride it a lot freshman year when my friends lived in the "party dorm" across campus-and drunk, obnoxious people certainly used it. Besides the people who were hit, the people who will most unfairly suffer from this incident are the new Theta members. We don't know yet what the consequences will be, but they could have their Bid Party taken away, etc. New members' unofficial nights out w/ actives in many houses are being cancelled for the time being. Unfortunately, I doubt that incidents like this are as uncommon on campuses as we would like to think...
