Question locals vs nationals

ok this might be sort of a strange question but it's just something i've been wondering for a while...

Alright, let's say that you join Delta Gamma and become an initiated member as a freshmen. Later, you decide to transfer to another school which does not have a Delta Gamma chapter. Upon figuring this out, you decide to join a local social sorority instead. Say that later your local is offered a charter from another NPC sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. What happens to you if your local accepts the charter? Obviously, you can't be a part of two NPC sororities according to the rules but do they just kick you out then? It seems unfair because you were just as much a part of the local as any other memeber.

There's no real reason for me asking this question... just curiosity. (sorority names were picked at random, by the way)
