Ditto on everything ChaosDST said. But when the performance i is excellent - even beyond what you expected, all the hard work, sacrifice (you might practice 4-6 hours on some nights), and emotions that go into the practice make it worth it. The biggest sacrifice in stepping: balancing practices (usually at night) in a schedule that includes academics, other activities (because you can't excel only in your sorority/fraternity), and community service.
