Job Dilemma

I'm looking for some advice here... I am facing quite the dilemma

I'm a software engineer with great credentials (if I do say so myself ) - including a master's degree. A few months ago, I was laid off, and since then I have found absolutely nothing in my field.

A couple of weeks ago, I was offered a part-time job. The problem is that they want me to commit for the entire school year (through early June 2003). Since they needed someone immediately, they offered me the job on a trial basis through mid-September. I do like the job - the pay isn't a fortune, and it's definitely not my field, but it's something.

Basically, I can either (a) quit after mid-September, (b) offer to stay on without committing, or (c) commit and maybe try to find a second part-time job. Or (d) some of the hours that I'd have to work are on Sunday mornings; I could commit to this for the year, but not give a firm commitment for the weekday hours. Though, I'd doubt they'd go for (b) or (d).

My husband does work full-time, so it's not like the bills won't get paid if I don't take this job. But I'd be kicking myself if I turned it down to look for work, and then next June rolls around and I'm still out of work.

So, any advice???

(edited for brevity and clarity)
