Are you sure that is what it means? I took a look at the link provided, and I believe that is says you must include the statement "membership and participation should be free from discrimination and harassment." You might want to discuss "open membership" and its requirements with your staff adviser. For example, on your campus, the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia chapter requires that all members be male (
http://new.ipfw.edu/offices/student-...ons/greek.html). Honor Societies required a certain GPA, and I would assume potentially "invitation to join." I can imagine the group could write its bylaws in such a way to not have membership "open" - but again, chat with the staff members who work in this area on your campus.
