Many NPHC, NALFO, and MC organizations use the term frequently. It's not considered disrespectful at all.

ETA: I've always wondered why "Soror" never gets the "You wouldn't call your country..." references. It's also an abbreviation, but no one seems to care about that one ::shrug::
