Spring 2008 Recruitment

I post on here under a different name but I wanted to share my recruitment story! I went through informal recruitment last spring at a larger school, we have about 20,000 students but only about 3% are involved in greek life. We have five sororities and I'm going to name them after my favorite authors

John Grisham
Nicholas Sparks
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Stephenie Meyer
Tess Gerritsen

I was a legacy to two different sororities but unfortunately neither one was at my campus.

First I'll give a little background:
I had gone to school just down the street from my college and I used to drive by the greek houses on my way to and from school everyday and I fell in love with Stephenie Meyer's house. It was GORGEOUS! I couldn't wait to get to school and go through recruitment!

When I finally got to school in the fall I went to a Meet the Greeks social and I had a really great time talking to all the girls.

John Grisham-they were well known for their grades, I had never been very academic in high school though I went to a very, very good high school. I had always managed to just get by with a B average so I was sort of intimidated. They were all very nice though.

Nicholas Sparks-they did not give me a good first impression, they seemed kind of ditzy and didn't spend a lot of time talking to me except about parties and such.

Stephenie Meyer-I had so looked forward to talking to these girls but I walked away disappointed. They seemed so disinterested in talking to me and only concentrated on other girls, I was so upset especially since my boyfriend's mom had been president of this chapter. However, I was still hopeful that the other girls would be more interested.

F. Scott Fitzgerald-I don't remember these girls very well, they had just gotten a new house though and it was very nice though I still thought Stephenie Meyer had the nicest house. The girls did not leave any impression on me good or bad.

Tess Gerritsen-I was completely disinterested in this group and they had no house. They had lost their house because of drinking and I was not a partier so I was really turned off by that fact. I barely talked to them.

Overall though I was really excited for recruitment so I went to register but when I saw the schedule I realized that I couldn't make a couple of the parties so I decided to wait to COB in the spring when it fit in my schedule better. One of my very good friends and hallmates did go through recruitment and she joined John Grisham.

COBs in the spring to come!
