I've seen "switching" done in a more positive light. First of all there are ground rules regarding being disrespectful. It is a weekend of activities - on Friday during the day, the "XYZ for a day" has to perform a community service project which the group they are switching typically performs - that evening there is a unity dinner and social where only the greek orgs watch a "performance" by the other org - on Saturday there was a group car wash as a fundraiser which everyone performed and then a step show where the groups performed their own steps with a "moment" for the group they switched off as. The t-shirts worn during the community service project and car was were white with the "AKA for a day" or "DST for a day" printed in black for all organizations and then on the back there was a unity message. Groups wore their own attire for the step show (of course those shirts were a little "tart" by then). My guess is that the "switch" events which have gotten out of hand may have spun off from something that was once positive.
