Well, it just ended for me.
I don't know what to say. I think my biggest problem with this whole thing is that -- with our boy gone -- there is neither a hero nor an anti-hero.
If The Wire is supposed to unfold like a novel, I no longer know who the protagonist is. Possibly Bubs, but I don't view him as a central character. True, he's an important supporting character, and his growth and redemption are important, but not central to my understand of and appreciation for the show.
McNulty is clearly not the hero.
Kima is the moral center.
I dunno, I just don't find any redeeming qualities in the main characters anymore, not with the blatant lack of ethics with the "serial killer" story.
