interested in joining a sorority (need info!)

i am hoping to transfer to rowan after i am done my two years at a local community college. i really don't know what to expect if i'm to be accepted and i want to join a sorority. i have a tendency to be very reclusive, and i am majoring in journalism, so i figure this would be my best bet to becoming more outgoing, and that will help me land a good job once i graduate.

could anyone tell me some info on what i can expect once i am at college and looking for a sorority? what exactly is a rush? i am totally in the dark about sororities period, and i need an explanation of what to expect.
