Actually, they were found in 1980 -- 27 years ago. But I guess no one thought about the significance of them then. Of course, that probably just means that the Vatican was suppressing any reports of the find.

It's a great historical find, but the odds that it has anything to do with Jesus of Nazareth are slim to none.

Which seems to be what almost every archeologist not involved in Cameron's project, including non-Christian archeologists, has said about it.
