The lost tomb of Jesus?
did anyone catch the premier of this documentary on the discovery channel? if you did, what do you think?
|
Didn't catch the special but read about it, and it sounds like precisely what happens when non-specialists get involved in archaelogy. You get a lot of ANSWERS and DISCOVERIES that the real scientists just somehow ignored.

Very very much so. These caskets were found at least 5 years ago and it took a Hollywood guy to get excited about them? It's the same thing with the casket found several years ago that said James brother of Jesus. Why are we so arrogant to assume that we know this is "THE" Jesus.
Imagine a man named John today did fantastic things and a religion started following him. In 2000 years someone finds a tombstone that says John on it... What are the odds that that is the correct John? An estimate states that 50% of Jewish women at that time were named Miriam or some derivative (including Mary). Finally, for this to make sense, Jesus would have to be moved from the first tomb on the Sabbath into this fully finished and paid for family tomb that NO ONE knew about. (Or they all just kept secret when writing those Gospels) Why would a (widowed) carpenter's family have a tomb? A family one. Near Jerusalem. When they lived in Nazareth and may or Joseph may not have been originally from Bethlehem? It just doesn't make sense, and is little more than a few scientists who are willing to grasp at straws for some attention. It's a great historical find, but the odds that it has anything to do with Jesus of Nazareth are slim to none. |
The obvious solution is to get Tom Hanks, Dan Brown, and a pale, self-torturing Christian sect member involved. The truth will come.

All that's left is for Geraldo to do a special about them.

It was suppsoed to be on and wasn't as listed!
Some may poopoo what is said, but History is always turning up today on finds. I could not get into the Dead Sea Scrolls as they are in Kansas City as it was sold out ASAP! We never know what is actually out there until it is found and disected. Funny, a new Dinashor, SIC, was just announced that is different that any known and may be a cross over.:) I was at none of these finds or there when it happened so who is to say? |

Mac, if he was around with the dinosaurs, he wouldn't be around now. A T-rex would have got him! It would be awesome! |
