The semi-auto, well sorta - yes the weapon itself because of the caliber of round is just legal... however from all accounts it was using an illegal magazine, ie. more than 10 rounds.
As for weapons current legality... well I think the Conservatives are going to have to deal with a public backlash against their scrapping of the Firearms Registry... as for what the future holds? Who knows - but remember it was the Montreal Massacre that inspired the Firearms Registry in the first place...
