I was raised in a fairly strict background, and have a brother who's a pastor. If I'm listening to something that obviously mocks the Lord or a band whose other songs usually do, I'll turn it off. Yet, I do listen to the Beatles, some of whose stuff isn't exactly holy - but I haven't been convicted not to do so.
As for masterbation, I do know some pastors who will state that, as long as you're not "making an idol" of it, are not imagining some fantasy, or become addicted to it, it's okay. Yet, there are some people who are totally convicted that they shouldn't do so at any time. It completely depends on what
you're told to do (or not to do)!
