This is actually a really common 'girl meme' - I've argued against it my whole life because it's bizarre self-denial with guys who aren't uptight about sex (see: every other thread about this, where 'if she sleeps with me I don't respect her!' is the cop-out of choice), but it's probably viable under the 'better safe than sorry' clause (and because of those retards previously mentioned).
