Tax refund: Thanks, but what the??
I got my refund check back today - and it is over $150 MORE than it was supposed to be. I got a "Notice 54" with it that said I'd get a notice in a few days telling why it's different, what (if any) additional info I had to give to the IRS and that I SHOULD NOT CALL with questions until I get the notice. Then it goes on to say if I'm sure it's too high, I should write them a letter and if I don't return the check, I'll owe interest.
What the hell?? I really really need to cash this check NOW, but I'm afraid to do anything. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
