I think it's going to be different for everyone. If you want to wait, fantastic! If you do it on the first night, hey, whatever works for you. With hubby, it was sooner than I maybe would have waited with someone else, but I already knew by then I was going to marry him. (on our second date if you were wondering). I have no problems with people having sex solely for gratification, as long as both parties understand and are okay with that. When one is looking for more, that's when you have problems (that's something that took me a while to learn).
I read somewhere that humans and dolphins are the only creatures that have sex for pleasure and pigs can orgasm for up to 30 minutes. Damn.
