well I went and spoke t my province advisor and he told me this "The Alpha-Chi chapter of TKE was chartered at the University of Louisville on Sept 12, 1942. It was the last chapter chartered before WWII and is considered the Dixie-Alpha Chapter because it was the first chapter chartered south of the Mason-Dixeon Line (according to Microsoft's Encarta CD-ROM encyclopedia, the Mason-Dixon Line followed the Ohio River from the Pennsylvania border to the Mississippi River). While Kentucky may not be considered the "Old South," the street name of Greek row at the U of L is Confederate Place and, at the end of Greek row, there is a statue to "Our Confederate Dead."
