Thumbs up New CHAPTER to announce...

Just got word that the Grand High Zeta has unanamiously approved the chartering application of the UIW colony. On February 12, 2005, a year and 3 days after they were colonized Pi Epsilon Zeta will receive its charter.

As the High Pi for the group, I want to thank all my fellow alums, especially those on GC, for their unfailing support. I couldnt have done it without ya'll.

In ZAX,
Andy

Thumbs up

Brother Andrew, this is Great News. Wish I could be there with You and The Brothers that I met at GC being at "THE Texas Table" and being an Honoring Texan for 1 Night even though I did stay in Tyler When Dad was at Boot Camp for WW II!

No Smart ass comments about that please.

I am sure with your hard work and leadership, you led them in the right path of Brotherhood!

Give My Very Best to the Guys that I had the pleasure to meet and be with!

In ZAX,

Outstanding.

If you don't tear up during the chartering ceremony, I'll send you a beer.

Since UNC chartered just over one year ago, and my memories of that night, I feel confident in stating I don't think I'll be rushing to the post office soon.

Great Job Lifesaver!

Don't forget to post pictures!

Congratulations to UIW! And its great to see a chapter at
another (fairly) small, church-related campus!

Its a special opportunity to attend a chartering ceremony....
they don't happen that often (unless you work at HQ I
guess). I was glad to be at Vandy's chartering (or re-chartering).

I still have a miniature copy of Vandy's charter (guess I could
add that to my list of LXA stuff at home).

Today is the big day!! Events started Friday Night.

The SA Alumni Association Grand High Phi Greg Smith and COO Kip Zurcher to dinner tonight for some authentic mexican food. Weather wasnt too bad and even had the mariachi band play a song for us which was cool. Thought they were all gonna flip when the mariachi's played "El Marichi" from Desperado and I knew all the words, and ended with a grito. It was great.

Good conversation and good times.

Tonight is going to be awesome. I cant believe its here already. WOW. It was a year ago today the expansion team asked me to be Pi. What a ride indeeed.

Do me a favor, let me know the actual zeta designation - I have something for you (see via email) that I'd like to prepare for the new chapter.

Brothers, It was a GREAT and AMAZING weekend. The ceremony was awesome and flawless. Everyone had a good time and I am pleased to announce that we now officially have the new zeta in our bond named Pi Epsilon.

I'll post more details of the weekend when I have some time tonight.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.

Just curious,

what are the exact differences between a colony and a chartered chapter? What can't a colony do?

Its not a matter of can or cant. They are different statuses of undergrad groups. A colony is not a chapter in bond. Its a trial run at a chapter. I am sure others can provide a more complete listing, but a few of the differences are:

A Colony has a set list of criteria it has to meet to become a chartered group. A chapter has a different set of criteria it has to regularly meet to stay open.

A colony sits at the back of the room at general assemblies. A chapter has a place in the main body based on when it was chartered. (All groups are seated by their chartering date)

Brothers in a colony dont have a zeta designation. They only have a number. Before chartering, the UIW colony was known as Colony 285. After, they received a zeta designation (in the proper order) of Pi Epsilon Zeta.

Being a chapter means you are a real zeta, equal to all the other zetas.

I am sure others can contribuite to the list.
