Hey all,
I truly was feeling Pearl Harbor, I was really just into the action stuff. Don't get me wrong though, because Ben Affleck was ever so the hottiefscottie. But I thought the movies accuracy might have been off a notch or two. Might just be, but it felt like the movie was making it seem like Josh Harnet and Ben affleck saved the world by themselves, but hey it's hollywood

Thumbs up

I totally enjoyed Pearl Harbour. Everyone was saying it was a total flop and it wasn't. I studied US history at university and I have always been fascinated by the Pacific war so Pearl Harbour was quite a treat. For the most part I found it historically correct, and I liked the way they threw some fiction into it. It was lots of fun, and boy those tears were flowing...

* WARNING: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE *

* LAST CHANCE...I MEAN IT *

Okay, I FINALLY went and saw Pearl Harbor and I have to agree with most of you that the movie was phenomenal! After hearing all the hype and then all the critiques, I was expecting a really crappy love triangle, but in retrospect I did like it a lot. Yes, a lot of it was highly predictable but that's not always a bad thing. My main complaint is that Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale) wasn't anywhere near emotional enough when Rafe (Ben) "died" or came back to her. Even though it was already a three hour movie, I would have liked to have seen some more connection between Danny (Josh Harnett) and Evelyn because it seemed too rushed and I can understand how people would be pissed about them hooking up.
During the battle scenes, I was kinda hoping Evelyn would died and then Rafe and Danny would both live, bury her, and restore their friendship. However, I can't say I didn't feel touched by Rafe saving Danny and then Danny getting shot to save Rafe. I was almost justice for taking his girl (although I agree that it sucked that Evelyn got what she wanted in the first place).
I am not a crier, but I totally teared up at the end when Rafe took Lil Danny up in the plane! What a great scene! Also, the scene that sticks out most in my head was the underwater scene during the battle where they showed the dead/injured sailors surrounding the torn up American flag.
Once again I think they did a great job with this movie and it's a definiate must see. I give it three thumbs up!
