I am pretty excited :) uf chi omega
Well I plan on transferring to the University of Florida my junior year. I understand it is pretty hard to get bids as a junior. I know they reccomend finding alum. in your area for you to meet so they can write a letter of recomendation.Wellll my mom is in a adult womens sorority and I was talkin to a lady and telling her my whole deal about wanting to be in a sorority for the bonding.. community service etc.. turns out she is a CHI OMEGA alum. at University of Florida!!!! We got to talking and im pretty sure she will write me a rec. if it turns out this sorority is right for me pretty dang excited!!!!

Good luck with recruitment! You will have to tell us if you decide to join a sorority :-)

I'm confused. First, you wanted to rush Tri Delta, and now you want to rush Chi Omega?
Welcome back!

Why is it a big deal that she wanted to rush tri delt and then Chi omega? I thought we were supposed to be encouraging people to check out all the groups and then decide. Maybe she's done her homework on the groups at UF and thinks that maybe she'd like it there. We ALL know pnms (some of use were that pnm) who think they have their minds made up and then change it or join a groups they didn't like at first.

We are. But we're encouraging them to do so DISCREETLY. Not post on GC every time they change their mind and think they've found The One.
Fashion Week, your best bet is to get recommendations for as many sororities as you can. This doesn't mean you'll automatically be asked to join if you have one. Also, as people have told you, getting a bid as a junior at UF can be quite difficult, regardless if you have a rec or not. I'm not sure where you're at school now, but you might be further ahead to go through rush now rather than waiting.

According to her MySpace page, she's at a community college working on her AA.

ive always wanted to be in a sorority, ive been looking them up for weeks on the internet .. seeing their community service and how well they are doing. i simpily was talking to a member of my moms womens sorority and she mentioned how she was an alum and said she would def. write me a reccomendation if i found XO was right for me.. but to be careful and do what i think is right... so i figured i could always try them and see if i like them.

You can spend 24/7 on the internet doing all the research you can about the sororities at UF, but you won't know anything until you actually go through rush itself. You won't know if XO's right for you until you go through the rounds and meet the sisters. Rush is a MUTUAL SELECTION. So just because you like them a lot, it doesn't mean they'll feel the same way about you!
Any sorority can look good online. Just because your mom's friend offers to write a rec for you doesn't guarantee you a bid. Girls who go through rush at UF usually secure recs for ALL sororities just to set them apart from everyone else.
I'm glad you're shopping around for sororities, but if you're really serious about it, I'd try to be more discreet if I were you. There have been many GC women who did not receive bids as a result of the crap they've posted online.
Read the UF rush threads. It's not always sunshine and daisies.
Oh, Jill1228, here's the Raisinets you were waiting for!

for now.. being in community college .. all i can do right now is research online. i still have a year and a half.. it's really not as big of a deal as you're making it ... i made a screen name not knowing how big of a deal that what i did was... now knowing that i wouldn't do it again ... i posted wanting to know what i needed to do to get in tri delta as if thats one i'm really interested in ... i'm new to all this ... you don't need to get rude with me because i'm new here...these are simple mistakes. i'm glad youre teaching me though.
