Game Shows
If you could be a contestant on any game show which one would you prefer?
I would want to be on Wheel of Fortune simply because it's a classic and I don't have to be a genius to when over $1,000.

I tried out for wheel of fortune a few months ago when they were in Dallas. I should say stood in line all day for nothing because we didn't get picked for tryouts. But I digress... A show I would like to be on is Supermarket Sweep. I don't know if it is still in production, but I liked it (I used to work in a grocery store). And I swear the Price is Right picks the dumbest people. I wonder if they had to take a pre-test and those who failed are chosen as contestants. Sorry, just venting after watching yesterday's episode.

c&c:
The last I heard, Supermarket Sweep ended it's run on Lifetime in 1996 and is now airing on a network called PAX. However, I do not know if these are first run episodes or reruns of the shows on Lifetime. I'll get back to you on that.
As for Price is Right:
The way they select people is that while would-be contestants wait in line to enter the studio, a contestant coordinator and some aides interview people in the crowd. For those who have the right energy (happy, smiling, genuine excitement, etc.), the coordinator says a code word or phrase to one of his aides, who writes down the contestant's name. Six names and three alternates are typed out and placed on Rod Roddy's podium before the show.
Hope this helps.

Same thing happened to me several years ago. Of course I was disappointed, but I would love to try out for that show again.
I had talked my husband into going with me to the tryouts in Orlando. Mind you, I took a couple of vacation days from work, so I was legit. Well, my husband called in "sick". Wouldn't you know it, a news crew was interviewing people for the evening news, and I probably drew attention because I was wearing my bright pink and green cap. I gave them a few words, then they stuck the mic in my husband's face and he started ducking and dodging. He would have ended up on TV after calling in late that day, and they did show my "segment" on the news that evening!

OMG "The Price is Right", I have watched this show for years, I think I would do well with pricing. Some of the games are just pure luck, though. I hate when they have dumb people like "Porkisha Laquay Jones" come on down and bid on the dyrer and she screams "$14,000 Bob!"
I would want to play "Plinko", because at least you will get something. I would never want to play "Golden Road", that game nobody ever makes it to the end. I would also want to play the card/car game (Jokers Wild?) or the mountain climber game. I would really be one of those excited people who would want to hug Bob, he is an American classic.
In fact since I get to be home today for Columbus Day I will check out the show in 20 minutes.

Press Your Luck is back on the air as "Whammy!: The All New Press Your Luck", or just "Whammy!" for short. The show is currently in its 2nd season.
Call the Game Show Network if you would like to audition for the show; it is MUCH better than the original PYL.
Their number is (310) 255-6860.
Good luck!
BTW, if you have Web access, you can also play Whammy! and other GSN games as well as Match Game and Family Feud interactive @ www.gsn.com

My 8 year old goes online to play "Lingo". We also watch it together. Great for her vocabulary. Now if they only had it for math. . .
