Plymouth St. investigates hazing death
12/18/2003
PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- Plymouth State University will begin disciplinary proceedings against nine female students involved in a hazing-related motor vehicle crash that killed senior Kelly Nester.
_
Lawyers for three of the four Sigma Kappa Alpha sorority sisters had won a temporary restraining order against the university continuing with disciplinary hearings claiming it did not have enough time to prepare a defense.
But Grafton County Superior Court Judge Timothy Vaughn vacated the temporary restraining order last week.
Nester, 20, of Coventry, R.I., was one of 10 women in the SUV that crashed near campus on Oct. 20. The crash ejected her out the back window and injured the others, some of whom were blindfolded.
The SUV driver, Nicole Dalton of Rochester, 20, told police she skidded on wet leaves at the time of the crash. Police said Dalton may have been purposely jerking the steering wheel just before the accident, but her lawyer said that was not true.
Dean of Students Tim Keefe said he couldn't comment on specific cases but said, "We will be following normal adjudicatory processes where appropriate."

hmmm....i've never heard of Sigma Alpha Kappa in the NPHC. maybe they're that imaginary one we have in NPHC. is this an attempt to cast BGLO's in a negative light?

There was already a thread about this posted after the incident:
http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...plymouth+state
The article could've at least gotten the name of the sorority right. In all the different articles I've seen, it's listed as SIGMA KAPPA OMEGA (obviously not D9), an unrecognized sorority at Plymouth State.
Kelly Nester had been a pledge of this sorority, who had some members that were also former members of ASA. There are other related threads about this on GC.

it's definitely Sigma Kappa Omega - hoosier & GP, could you pretty please edit your posts?
hoosier, just out of curiousity, where was that from? The newspapers & TV stations in the area have had so many stories on it they should at least get the name right.
