What is Total for your GLO's?

I am currently advising a Chapter that does not have a Total or Quota system in place at their school. This is allowing some Chapters to become massive while others continually shrink. I am trying to find out the pro’s and con’s of Total/ Quota systems and ideas on how to set one up. I am also trying to find out what the norm for Total is.

Name of the School:
Approx. Student population:
Number of GLO’s:
Total:

Any input would be appreciated.

NPC total is 80, but I don't know what the other totals are.
7-9% of campus is Greek

My grad school....

Northern Arizona University
School Population: is around 13,000.
Number of GLO's:We have 7 NPC,
12 IFC,
1 NHPC (recognized by University, but is inactive)
2 Latin Sororities
1 Latin Frat.

Size of a sorority is about 40 memebers give or take a few.(I'm not really that sure since mine is a small group).

Size of a Fraternity is about the same as the sororities.

NO HOUSES ON CAMPUS. DX is the only frat with a house(OFF Campus).

Diversified Greek Council. Lambda Theta Alpha, Mu Sigma Upsilon, and Sigma Lambda Gamma are a part of it.

I think total is set only for NPC sororities and the 2 locals. Only about 5% of the school is greek, so all but one sorority is way under total.

MIT:

Student population is about 5,000 undergrad.
GLOs: 5 NPC, 25 IFC, 3 NPHC, 6 independent living groups (see below)
NPC total: 80
NPC quota: Historically has been around 30. This past year they went to deferred sorority recruitment, and quota was (I think) 21.

(Independent living groups are sort of like local fraternities. One is all-female, the others are coed. They have their own governing council equivalent to IFC and Panhel, and their own rush, which happens in the fall at the same time as fraternity rush.)

Hmmm. That number for total is way off from what I've been told. My understanding was that total was 105, but that we had grown past that number ages ago. (The average NPC chapter size at UCF is 151.)

Maybe I'm misinformed, though.
