Rush is over. . .
well, we HAD 30 girls signed up to go through
But only 15 showed up
We ended up only getting four of the fabulous girls
But so did every sorority(only because of the quota thing)

Congrats on the four new women!
Does your campus allow COB and informal recruitment? And if so, are you going to do it?
OUr recruitment has pretty much just started, so far we have 60 women signed up...and this is informal recruitment - we never have formal. So I', hoping at least 10 stick with us! They have their first info party on Wednesday, so I'll have to wait and see!

i think that we have a plan in action
at 12:16, we're allowed to go and recruit our friends to offer them bids
we all have tons of friends who didn't want to do the rush thing
they just want to join our sorority

Even though we are a small commuter school with a small greek system, we have 300 women signed up. I know that not everyone will show up to open house, but we have had an awesome start. Plus we only have to share women between three sororities, so we are hoping for a high quota. Good luck to all.

Hi Suzanne! Its Heather!! I just wanted to say how awesome that you have that many women signed up! I got super excited for you guys when I say that. Best of luck to you ladies out there. Sorry we can't make it out. (our recruitment week is at the same time)
Oh yea we are pretty excited too because 50 girls have signed up...(but they all haven't turned in applications yet) but we are all hoping around that many come because quota would be 25!! (gotta love only have two nationals on campus. hee hee)
Good luck again!! Come back on Greek Chat and tell us how it went.

Recruitment Rant!
Ok ladies I don't want to be one to come on here and complain about recruitment because I am so excited for it!!! Our Formal Recruitment is Sept. 15th through the 19th.
Anyway if you read the "rush is over" thread you can see I posted on how happy my chapter is because 50 women have signed up! If that really is the number to go through than quota will be 25!! (only one other national besides us. )
My school has always been a somewhat Greek Friendly campus. We don't have that big of a system but we are friends with everyone on campus. What is really cool this year is the first day of school was only last thursday and on thursday and friday we kept getting all these ladies telling us how they remembered getting something in the mail about us and are planning to turn in their apps. soon. Woo Hoo for us because this is a really good response. Except today....
Here is my rant. I gave this flyer today to this girl that was all smiling at me as she walked up the stairs to the quad. And I said, "Hi! Here's a flyer about the two National Sororities on campus" She was all "Thanks" (kinda in a mocking way) and then she crumples up the flyer right in front of me and starts laughing!!!!!! I have never heard of this happening at my school and it made me so angry. I said to her: "you could of just said no thank you" Oh man though I was so pissed! I know there are people out there that hate greeks but that was so rude.
ok I feel so much better now...
I guess I just needed to share my yucky flyer passing out experience with all of you.
Anyone else have any stories about meanie heads like this girl on my campus. Oh yeah I go to a small school, so I know i'll see her again..I hope she realizes she is now forever dubbed "flyer Girl"
love ya all
Heather

Hey Heather,
You know what will be the most ironic thing is that she is probably one of those "never joiners" and would absolutely never ever consider joining a sorority. Guess who will probably be in a sorority in the next year or so. Doesn't it always seem to be that way.
I don't really recall having PNM's ever crumbling up the papers we've given them. The only problems we had during recruitment was last year someone kept pulling down all our banners that we had placed all over school. But they didn't only target us, there were other groups targeted too
Good luck with recruitment.

HI There,
We're just gearing up for recruitment this week and next. This week is Welcome Week where all the clubs and organizations have booths out in the sculpture garden on Tuesday through Thursday. There are all types of activities going such as a dunk tank, orbitron, etc on those days too.
However, Monday was a voluntary day of participation and we were one of about 6 groups (out of 60) that had tables up. We ended up having 20 women sign up that they want more information and/or invites to our recruitment parties. For such an informal day I think that is fantastic. I can't wait to see what is going to happen the next few days since this is the official "club rush" days now for the next 3 days.
Our recruitment parties are next week on the 17th and 18th. Then we're volunteering with the coastal cleanup day on the 20th and having a fundraiser at Shakey's Pizza on the 24th. Pref Night is the 26th and bid day is the 27th. Wish us all luck.
I am just so super excited about this year, I hope we keep up with the momentum that we had yesterday.
LITP,
Carolyn

FAu is having recruitment this week. It is going so much better than I expected it to last week. As of last week we had 16 girls show up, when final counts were in we had 71 going through recruitment.
Last night was our first party night. All the girls were so wonderful, except for the one who ripped a picture that I HAD TAPED DOWN WITH 1/2 A ROLL OF TAPE! She took it off and ran around saying she knew where one of the Rho Gamma's belonged. Ah!
Overall, I was really excited, my first time through rush, (I was picked up in the spring). I'll update everyone on the progress each day!

We had a girl in our recruitment room last night tear the covering off of a Rho Gamma. I covered her face with the paper and 1/2 a roll of tape! Friggin girl! She ran aorund telling everyone that she knew where one of the Rho Gammas belonged! How rude of her, she was told the rules before recruitment began, she didnt follow them.

ours are the COBs from hell
the ones who put their names on lists to be contacted
but when you call to follow up, they laugh or say 'i don't think i have time'
didn't you know this before you signed the list?
why, a-wipe, do you sign the list when you could have said that at the table and been left alone

this is kind of crazy
we had 12 girls go through rush
6 had phi sig as their first choice
but they couldn't have us because an even number of girls went through rush
so every sorority got 4 girls
of course we found out after the fact that any time an even number goes through
the girls are equally divided
is that even fair????

MAtter of fairness, who knows? But that is the way NPC formal recruitment works - the idea being every group has the opportunity for the same number of women.
The only diff with odd numbers is they have to round the number off(i'm not sure if up or down, prolly down so if there were 13 women rushing quota would still be 4 and one group would get quota plus)
"Suicide" is the only way for women to absolutely get their first choice, but most schools and chapters highly discourage that since it goes against the panhellenic spirit.
Ahh, the joys of formal recruitment....
