Congratulations Soror! Next year (hopefully) I'll be in your shoes. I'm a psychology major too about to enter my last and final year as an undergrad (Whew). I haven't decided on a graduate school yet, but I am looking at Emory Univ., U of Ga, and Auburn University. I want to go into forensic psychology...wish me luck. Good luck to you!

Congratulations, soror! I'm doing the 'happy baby dance' for you.

Continue to press on in honor of those who made a way for us (a paraphasing of a cool note I saw yesterday).

Congratulations Soror!! I got a call today from the Health Services Administration Program at the University of Kansas. I am waiting to hear from the University of Memphis and the University of Houston-Clear Lake. However, I am favoring Kansas more. It seems like only yesterday when I was getting ready to begin my undergraduate work. Blessings to everyone in your academic endeavors.

Hello ladies...I did not realize how popular Psychology is. I too am a Psychology major. I am planning to get my Psy.D from one of the branches of the American Schools of Professional Psychology. Has anyone ever heard of the schools? They have branches in Chicago, Atlanta,Tampa, and Hawaii among other places. I am interested to know of anyone who has looked into, or knows of anyone who has attended these schools. Congratulations Supermodel1908! Beauty and intelligence are a deadly combination!

Question

I was just wondering out of all of you who I assume took the GRE how was your experience with it? I plan on getting a test guide from like Border's or something. From the schools I have looked into I have to take the General GRE. Its just been so long since I have taken a test like that. I have to take my teacher certification test also later this year and I would like to know what to expect from either one!

I want to go into Sports Administration or continue my studies in Kinesiology or Exercise Physiology, I'm not really sure yet..

I need to RE-TAKE the GRE, my scores are outdated, if I plan on working on the doctorate.

The Praxis, the NTE, when I took it, was basic high school information (personal opinion). The only thing that wasn't really "high school" was the professional knowledge. If you have to take, or if it still is offered in the communication part, I've been told that when writing your essay, the scorers are looking for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and whether or not the person answered the question appropriately.

From what I can remember about the GRE, it was your typical standardized test. Just try to think along the lines of "others" (if you know what, I mean WHO I mean)

Good Luck!

Let me add, rather ask, does your school system, if you are already teaching, or your school offer any PREP courses for the Praxis? That helps.

I am trying to get into the University of Michigan so I know my scores are gonna have to be on point.

I'm not teaching yet..***Praying everyday these kids don't rip me apart during my student teaching next Jan.***

I rec'vd a study guide from the NTE for my major...doesn't seem to be all that difficult judging by the sample questions..but then again maybe thats why they are sample questions? At any rate I'll check with the College of ED career advisor to see if they offer any prep courses. Thanks for the heads up...

Congratulations Supermodel1908! Speaking from experience, I know that the road has been a long, arduous, yet worthwhile one.

With regard to the graduate assistantships, remain prayerfully optimistic. I just completed my graduate program (graduated May 20th) at Carnegie Mellon U. and my attendance was financed solely on a fellowship, with a stipend from my research assistant responsibilities. I'm entering my doctoral program in the fall, and that too, will be funded by a fellowship. Believe me, I know that this is a process that you can only get through by remaining focused on your God-ly given purpose and a strong dose of faith. God will certainly provide...and in ways that you would never imagine possible (see my testimony under the thread, "You should be a Witness").

Keep the faith, remembering that "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1, KJV, Holy Bible). Press on!

I will bless the Lord at ALL times His praise shall continually be in my mouth. (Psalms 34:1, KJV)

Meeks, I found the GRE to be very similar to the SAT's. I had bought the study guides in the bookstore, and although I didn't use them nearly as much as I should've, they really looked helpful. Best wishes.
