Actually, most of the reviews that I've seen have been quite good.
Anyway, most fun I've had the movies in a long-time. MUCH better than Matrix Re-Loaded. (And, with all respect to Sistermadly, is it possible for sword-fights to go on too long? )
Keira Knightly is gorgeous, and Johnny Depp was wonderful -- managing to be incredibly menacing and incredibly funny at the same time. The whole thing had the feel of some old Errol Flynn movies, with some Three Musketeers thrown in for good measure. (Will Turner was pretty much an anglicized D'Artagnon.) Really, really fun!

Can I just say that I absolutely LOVED this movie?!?!?!!!! Orlando looked hot, as did Johnny...and Kira...she's a nice looking woman as well. Overall, way better than I thought it was going to be and very entertaining...that is what I paid for! YES!

I liked this movie a lot, too! Orlando and Johnny were great!
greeklawboy pointed out something very interesting about Johnny Depp during the movie. I asked why he was wearing the smudgy eyeliner and acting so "flamboyant," and he said that the powers-that-be based Captain Jack Sparrow's character on Keith Richards (of the Rolling Stones)!
Suddenly it all fell into place. IMO, Johnny has a spot on the next Stones tour if Keith ever suffers an untimely demise.

I saw Johnny on Leno, I believe, and he explained the make-up, beads and "flamboyant" behavior. He said that through research, he found that pirates were like the rock and roll stars of their time. So, he decided that there was noone better than Keith Richards who embraced the "rock and roll" look and persona. I thought their was something oddly sexy about his wild hair and smudgy eye makeup.
I LOVED the movie! It was damn good! And just what I needed after a string of mediocre movies that I had high hopes for. It was great! And Johnny Depp made the whole movie. He was absolutely fabulous. And FUNNY! I was so impressed by him.
Keira Knightly reminded me so much of Natalie Portman. My mom thought she was a mix between Natalie Portman and a young Brooke Shields.

Keira Knightley is gorgeous . . . am I the only one who failed to place her as the girl from Bend It Like Beckham? I realize that she looks nothing like she did in that movie, but even so, I feel like I should have made the connection.
Johnny Depp was better though. The whole Elizabeth/Will plot bored me; I was praying throughout the movie that she would "hook up with the pirate!"

okay I saw it and it was AWESOME! So much fun! I haven't had that much fun watching a movie since -- well since my second date with my high school boyfriend -- AND since seeing Indiana Jones. Johnny Depp was just amazing in it, I couldn't take my eyes away from him. Which is odd considering how very very lovely Orlando Bloom is to look at.
apparently there are a ton of references to the ride in the movie. Did anyone catch them?

It was a great movie!!!! I loved every minute of it and the two and a half hours flew by! Orlando was amazing and so cute! Johnny Depp was so funny and perfect in the role. I was surprised that I really liked the story too. I thought it would be purely an "eye candy" type of movie, but it was good!

I know, it was such a good time. Johnny Depp's entrance was amazing. I loved how proud he looked on that ship and then when we went to the wide shot...
My BF and I were cracking up nearly everytime he was on screen. Geoffrey Rush (the evil captain) was excellent as well. All in all its a perfect summer movie.
Is it really 2 1/2 hours? Phew. Felt like 20 minutes.

I sat there and laughed my ass off during the references to the ride(that is my favorite ride at D-land and I used to have an annual pass so I would go to ride PotC and leave.
examples of references:
-parrot saying"Dead men tell no tales."
-the scene in the prison with the guys trying to get the dog to bring the key.
-the guy sleeping with the muddy pigs
-the song "Yo ho yo ho, a pirates life for me..."
And those are just the ones that I can remember right now...there were a TON!

There were a few scenes, during the raid, where they showed men chasing women and women being sold. Those street scenes also echoed the ride.

I finally saw this movie. It was excellent! A great mix of humor and action. I would definitely go and see it again. Another reference to the ride is of course the cave where they kept the treasure. That's very similar to the ride at Magic Kingdom.

Loved it!
So, i've been waiting for this movie for MONTHS, okay? I LOVE Orlando Bloom...I swear, I'm borderline obsessing. Anyways...
2 of my sorority sisters wanted to see the movie with me for my birthday(July 6), but I was in Florida. Since I promised I'd see it with them, I had to wait for them to come visit! They live in Atlanta, I live 2 hours north. They FINALLY made it today!!

My thoughts exactly!
hrm...let me get my teeny bopper inner self out of me:
ORLANDO WAS SO HOT!! Especially all dressed up at the end!
ok, now that thats outta my system.
Johnny Depp/ Jack Sparrow was great!! You know, he kept you guessing. I wasn't really sure who's side he was on till the end!
Kiera was really pretty and did a good job in it.
Ok, I LOVED This movie! I definately want the DVD for Christmas!

I love love LOVED this movie!!!!!
When the movie trailers first came out, I thought it was going to be as corny as that movie "Ghost Ship", but after seeing it yesterday, it is definately something I want to buy on DvD when it comes out!!!
